Here are some things you can do to help encourage the spread of biodiesel in your area:
Encourage local filling stations to offer biodiesel fuel
Business owners won't act if you don't speak up and let them know that there is demand for a product. Simply telling an owner that you would use them as your primary fueling resource if they add biodiesel to their offerings is all it takes.
Buy a diesel vehicle and make the switch to biodiesel
Biodiesel runs in any regular, unmodified diesel engine. Today's clean diesels can offer better fuel mileage (up to 75 mpg) and produce fewer greenhouse gases than some petroleum/electric hybrids. The stereotype of dirty diesel is being displaced by the new technologies.
Support biodiesel businesses and restaurants
Restaurants that recycle their oil are good citizens and should be rewarded for their efforts. Other environmentally conscious businesses and transportation companies are making the switch to biodiesel or biodiesel blends and they are not shy about letting their customers know about it. Give your business to companies who are embracing better energy.
Support biodiesel legislation
Write elected officials and let them know you support renewable fuels in general and biodiesel in particular.
